Europe 2016 Day 8 Glasgow

Well, we really didn't see Glasgow at all. The port on the River Clyde is Greenook and our tour took us up to the Scottish Highlands. Our tour guide was a gentleman with a heavy Scottish brogue, so he was hard to understand. He was also a musician who had had a band for years and he sang to us and played the fiddle!! He was easier to understand when he was singing!

The countryside was beautiful. We first went to the town of Luss on Loch Lomond. It was a very nice summer resort area. There was a dog swimming - they were throwing sticks for him - but then he would get distracted and swim after the ducks barking as he went. It was hilarious! And I miss Breck.

Loch Lomond is a fresh water lake. They also have lochs that are salt water which is really a fjord but they call them lochs. We saw some of each. It was very fascinating. At the end we took a ferry across on of the saltwater lochs, but we were already well out of the highlands.

At the top of the highlands we got out for a photo stop at a pass between two glens. The resting place had first been used by the soldiers who built the road in the 1740s! WOW! It was a beautiful spot.

We got back to the ship at beer time and decided we had had enough of the dining room, so we had burgers up by the pool. Tomorrow is a sea day so there may not be a blog.
