Galveston Day Three

Today was a great day but this grandma is a pooped pup.

Started the day walking the 2.7 mile beach walk. Than the Starke clan picked me up and we went to Galveston's new Pleasure Pier. It is great! The girls had a fabulous time. They rode all the rides they could. Their favorite was the bumper cars - they did those about 10 times!

Megan took driving very seriously - Emily on the other hand, may never get a car! They also liked the tea cups and the frog ride and getting their faces painted.

We stayed at the pier for about 5 hours and then had a 20 minute walk back to the car! Would have been 10 but Emily is easily distracted - kind of like herding cats!

When I got back to the motorhome I took Breck to the beach for about half an hour. We played"old man fetch" -I would throw the stick in the water and he would walk out to get it and walk back! Think he was tired too.

Now, the big kids are out to dinner and the little ones are all tucked into their beds. Actually getting to watch NCIS Los Angeles which is a treat since I am having withdrawal!

Galveston Day Two

The walk down the beach to the Starke condo is about 1.3 miles. I walked it twice today. The second time in flip-flops/bare feet - never again! Way to far for my poor feet to walk without support! Threw sticks in the water for Breck - he enjoyed it even though he would prefer a nice fresh water lake without waves!

This morning we went to the train museum. It had been totally devastated by Hurricane Ike and is now starting to look really good. We even rode their train ride - a 15 minute ride in a caboose drawn by a big blue Diesel engine.

After the train museum we went to lunch and to to ice cream/candy store - YUM!

All in all a good day!

Galveston Day One

I did not do a very good job of packing - but it had been a year. Forgot my DirectTV receiver which would not be a problem if my cable worked which it does not! Four days without tv...it will be good for me, right? Also forgot my Kindle so I had to go to the drugstore and buy a book...a real book with pages! Wifi works though so that is a plus.I did not do a very good job of packing - but it had been a year. Forgot my DirectTV receiver which would not be a problem if my cable worked which it does not! Breck and I walked down the beach to the Starke condo this morning - it is only 1.3 miles so it was a great walk. Took Breck's toy and he was excited. Threw it in the water and he retrieved it BUT he is not a big fan of salt water! I like walking by the water and he likes walking up by the dunes.Breck and I walked down the beach to the Starke condo this morning - it is only 1.3 miles so it was a great walk.
