Europe 2016 Day 6 Blarney Castle

Today we docked in Cobh - how do you suppose you pronounce that? Wrong - it is pronounced Cove. It is the port for the town of Cork, Ireland.

Our tour today was to the Blarney Castle where you can climb a gazillion steps to kiss the Blarney Stone and get the gift of gab. The wait to climb was about an hour and as I said a gazillion steps, so Lori and I blew kisses to the Blarney Stone from down below. Tha Castle grounds were beautiful. Lots of flowers and HUGE trees and so green. It was a neat place with dungeons and poison gardens and cave tunnels where the people were able to escape if they were invaded.

We got back to the ship and ate some lunch and then went back out to the Cobh Heritage Center. It was really interesting. This was the Titanic's last port before it headed out to New York. And the Lucitania left from here 3 years later before it was blown up by the Germans during WWI. And the Center also talked about all the Irish immigrants who left through this port. It was all very fascinating.

We had beautiful sunshine and temps about 80. All in all it was a great day. Tomorrow, Dublin.

I need one of those gardens in my yard - bet I wouldn't have much of a bunny problem then. Just sayin'.
