Okay, readers, sorry about not posting last night as promised. I wrote a wonderful blog with 10 pictures BUT this SORRY wifi for which I paid way too much would not let me publish it. Not sure how much I will do ... Not much fun without pictures. Might try to figure out some solution.
Today we toured Portland and Kennebunkport. We went to the Portland Head Lighthouse which was great but just a little chilly - maybe 49 and windy! By the time we got to Kennebunkport the weather had warmed up some and it was beautiful. We of course drove by the Bush home but they were not in residence so we couldn't visit! ;-)! Then we had about an hour and a half to wander the village. Most of that time was taken up waiting to eat and eating. Had a lobster roll which was WONDERFUL! Then back to the ship. We are seeing quite a bit if beautiful color but a lot of it from the bus and those pictures really aren't worth posting - not that I am posting pictures anyhow.
Okay - going to see if it posts without pics.
Well, today was really the first cruise day. We got on the ship about 1 and got up to our rooms to until about 2 then went to eat some lunch at the buffet. We walked up to the top deck and had a great view of NYC.
Could see the Statue of Liberty and the Freedom Tower. Very impressive. About 5:00 we pulled away from the dock and headed out to sea. This sculpture is at the Newark port - have no idea what it means.
Today was a travel day - no cruising yet. Tomorrow we get on the ship. We left the house about 7:10 this morning. Traffic to the airport was terrible but we got there in time to have a McDonalds breakfast before getting on the plane. Flight was uneventful which is the best kind. Once in Newark we had fun on the airport tram which was going the wrong way - really, it was not us, the tram went the wrong way! Glad we weren't trying to make a connection like some others in our car! But, we got to the hotel and settled in our rooms and then went to an early dinner since there had been no lunch. I had without a doubt the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever eaten! YUM!! After dinner we walked over to the train station to buy wine for Helen to take onto the ship. I bought a couple of beers for this evening and 2 beers were only $4.50! I was amazed! All for now - tomorrow the cruise actually begins.
