Yesterday we traveled from London to Southampton to get on the ship. We had a private car drive us down which was really nice. Got here and checked in easily and went to the buffet for lunch. We are at a table for 6 - one couple from the Villages in Florida whose luggage was lost, and two sisters from Canada who appeared for dinner 45 minutes late.
This morning we dropped anchor off Guernsey. We had to tender into port for our morning tour. The temp was about 50 so it was a little chilly in the tender. Our bus driver tour guide, Tom, looked about 12! We went first to a gold/silversmith - there was some pretty stuff but I was not in the market for expensive jewelry. The grounds were beautiful. The whole island is lush green with lots of flowers.
Our next stop was The Little Chapel. This is a chapel all built by hand using broken China, pebbles and seashells. The guy who built it tore his first chapel down because at 6' by 6' it was too small. So he built it over again 6' by 9'. When the bishop visited from France he was too portly to get through the door so the guy tore down his second attempt. He then fell ill and went back to France. His brother decided to rebuild his brother's project and thus today's Little Chapel. It really is beautiful.
