Yesterday, Tuesday, since there were no pictures, I did not blog. We went to the Crypt of the Capuchin Monks. It was one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen. There are thousands of bones of dead monks arranged in different ways and then there were whole monks in there robes in cubbies (of bones) around each room. It was truly strange. The bones were all arranged by type - vertebrae all together, pelvic bones all together, skulls all together, forming pictures or borders. Hard to explain but we were not allowed to take pictures, just take my word for it - it was bizarre!!!
Then we went by the Trevi Fountain which was super crowded and found a restaurant for lunch. That was it for yesterday.
Today Lori and Jerry and I kind of retraced my steps from Sunday when I went with Scherry, Chris and Jody. We headed out about 8:30 - our fist stop was the Spanish Steps. Amazing how much less crowded it was. Then we walked to the Trevi Fountain. It was crowded, but not anywhere close to how crowded it was on Sunday. Then we went to the Pantheon - I know I wrote Parthenon on Sunday - wrong country! The Pantheon is one of the most impressive buildings I've ever seen. Then we went down to the Campo de Fiori to eat at a restaurant that Lori and Jerry's son and daughter- in-law recommended. We got there about 45 minutes before the restaurant opened so we wandered around - through the farmers market, over by the French Embassy. None of us were overly impressed with the food. Actually, with the exception of the gelato, we really have not been impressed with the Italian cuisine!
After lunch we went to the piazza Navona - which is really nice. And to the Piazza de Popolo. We stopped for a gelato and headed home. It was already really hot! All in all a very good day!
Enjoy the pics.
