Today was Vienna. We didn't dock until about 8:45 and the went off on our tour about 9. We did not like this guide as much as yesterday's guide in Budapest. We drove around the city and then had a walking tour. We saw the Hapsburg Palace, the Lipizzaner Stallions Barn, a monument to the victims of the plague in 1679, and St. Stephen's cathedral which they had begun building in the 1100's and finished in the 1500's. The guide today did not seem to tell us enough to make it very interesting.
Since we were able to stay in town and supposedly take the subway back to the boat...we decided to stay in Vienna and eat lunch. We went to the Sacher restaurant - having a Sacher Torte is supposed to be one of the "must do's" in Vienna. Lunch was very good and the Sacher Torte was very good. Reminded me a lot of mother's chocolate cake!
As I said earlier...we were told that we could easily stay in town and take the subway back. Turned out not to be so easy. Well, we got off at the wrong stop and then couldn't figure where to go. Went into a police station and talked to a nice young policeman - how many American cops do you think could understand and help a lost German tourist in German? We ended up taking a cab. And when we got back - they had moved our ship! But after walking from one end of the pier to the other we finally found our ship.
Chris and Jody and Scherry are going to a concert tonight. Jerry and Lori and I passed on that idea.
Here are some pictures.

It's all so beautiful. I was reading this while sitting at Jump Zone with a bunch of crazy kids. I am holding on to hope that someday I will enjoy these things too! :-). Kiddos miss you and are having fun playing "Where in the World is Grandma". And what language do they speak and are they funny and do princesses live there ...
